Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922) was a Scottish-born American scientist and inventor who is widely credited with the invention of the telephone.

The telephone is arguably the greatest communication device ever created. It requires no special skill to operate; provides personal, real-time and efficient communication; can reach across the globe in mere seconds and; can be inexpensive to use.

Graham Bell was responsible for numerous other inventions, including the metal detector. He also achieved ground-breaking results in hydrofoils and aeronautics.

Individuals such as Bell are commonplace in a Westernized culture because their innovation, intelligence and passion for improvement and progress are valued and rewarded.
