#86: Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Albert Einstein (1879-1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist.

Einstein's many contributions to physics include his special theory of relativity, which integrated mechanics with electromagnetism, and his general theory of relativity, which extended the principle of relativity to non-uniform motion, creating a new theory of gravitation.

His fingerprints are found throughout the world in such life-enhancing and life-saving technologies as photoelectric cells, lasers, nuclear power, nuclear medicine, fiber optics, space travel, and even semiconductors

As do many Western culture heroes, Einstein demonstrates the unlimited potential of human reason to discover and understand the nature of reality and the universe.
