Ray Kroc (1904-1984) is largely responsible for making McDonald's Corporation into the internationally known fast-food giant that it is.

McDonald's is correctly viewed around the world as a symbol of Western culture largely because McDonald's is essentially about enjoying life, which is a pillar of Western culture. Mr. Kroc took eating, which has been throughout human history a basic and often burdensome activity, and helped to make it fun, convenient and affordable for hundreds of millions of people.
