These individuals have most contributed to replacing
ignorance with knowledge, savagery with civilization,
disease with health, tyranny with liberty, poverty with
abundance, and despair with happiness.
#92: Ray Kroc (1904-1984)
Ray Kroc (1904-1984) is largely responsible for making McDonald's
Corporation into the internationally known fast-food giant that it
is.

McDonald's is correctly viewed around the world as a symbol of Western
culture largely because McDonald's is essentially about enjoying
life, which is a pillar of Western culture. Mr. Kroc took eating,
which has been throughout human history a basic and often burdensome
activity, and helped to make it fun, convenient and affordable for
hundreds of millions of people.
