#97: Manmohan Singh (1932- )

Manmohan Singh (1932- ) is largely responsible for India's original and historic economic reform program which was enacted in 1991.

This program was generally capitalistic and, as a result, has already lifted at least tens of millions of Indians from both physical and spiritual poverty.

Whether India's economic progress is sustained in the future is in question, but if it is, Dr. Singh's standing as a hero of Western culture will likely rise significantly.
