His total dedication to cutting costs, improving productivity, using information technology like never before and selling in mass quantity allowed his Wal -Mart stores to sell for less. The result is that he improved the purchasing power of millions of people, especially the poor and middle class.

Sam Walton, like most Western culture heroes, stands as an individual of vision, intelligence, continuous improvement and genuine progress.
